Spring 2020 Astrology Update by Anjali Soi, anjalisoi.com/astrology

Evolution is the theme of evolutionary astrology, and in what areas of life are indicated by the movements of Pluto and the nature of Scorpio. They both reinforce that aspects of our selves, egos and lives must die in order for change and even transformation to occur. The process is akin to a butterfly emerging from its chrysalis where death, rebirth and metamorphosis often result from intense crises and confrontational experiences.

Pluto is transiting the sign of Capricorn between 2008 and 2024, bringing themes of breakdown and cataclysm in relation to the systems and structures that exist in our lives and in the world. The much awaited Pluto and Saturn conjunction (when two astrological entities sit at the same degree and minute in the Sky relative to the human eye) in Capricorn that occurred in Jan 2020 along with its interplay with Uranus in Taurus brought in the energy of cataclysmic evolution to facilitate the changes required by the larger forces of our Universe relative to the signs these planets are in. Thus, the current upheavals in mainstream life are not surprising to many astrologers.

Taurus rules resources and survival, finances, hard work, labor and literally the Earth while Uranus is the planet of trauma and shocks as well as rebellion, innovation and erratic change. Uranus first entered Taurus in May 2018 and will be there until 2026 so unexpected events and insights will occur in Taurus areas for the remaining six years of its transit related to how we handle resources, manage money and use our talents and efforts. Taurus also rules the throat chakra including the neck, thyroid, vocal tract and even the ears so there could be issues in these areas if you are prone. You can wear green, particularly a green gemstone, and/or copper to stabilize and harmonize these areas.

Taurus is the true sustenance in our lives and those needs and values that help us survive on various levels. When we have true abundance and are able to share what is essentially important and personally relevant to us with others, a sense of security and fulfillment results. Relationships then also have a more solid ground to exist and thrive on. In astrology, we look to the opposing sign (180 apart) as a balancing or integrating energy, which is Scorpio for Taurus. So we come back to the theme of change, requiring us to go deep and evolve our big picture around resources and sustainment. ‘Opposites attract’ and both signs complement each other but there will be confrontation especially if Taurus gets too rigid and resistant because Scorpio will then push harder. The more we are open and proactive to making change, listening to our intuition and insights and acting on what inspires us, the less we are prone to receiving the shocks and trauma necessary to propel us forward.

We may find ourselves evaluating whether our needs are being met and our feelings being heard after experiencing disappointments by others or a betrayal. What faults or lies were in your foundation (Saturn)? Does your value system need to change? What personal needs of yours were absent from a situation or relationship that now need restoring? How can you improve your connection to yourself? The answers to these questions will take us deeper into learning the lesson of Pluto and Scorpio, to find and understand what gives us meaning in our lives. How can we also connect with a deeper security within, from where we can reach greater depths of understanding about existence itself and the greater Consciousness?
